420   Authority to accept, budget, and spend in the 2007-2008 General Fund/ Restricted Budget an additional $46,588 at the Continuing Education Campuses from the California State Department of Education through the Workforce Investment Act, Title II, Section 231, Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, English Literacy and Civics Education (EL Civics) increasing the budget from $1,095,061 to $1,141,649.

 

421   In the matter regarding the Governor’s Career Technical Education Initiative (SB 70/SB 1133)”Career Technical Education Community Collaborative Project” grant for 2007-2008 for the San Diego Community College District, authority is requested to:

 

       Accept, budget and spend in the 2007-2008 General Fund/Restricted Budget $350,000 from the Chancellor’s Office of the California Community Colleges (COCCC).

 

422   In the matter regarding the Governor’s Career Technical Education Initiative (SB 70/SB 1133) “Career Technical Education Community Collaborative Supplemental Funding” Grant for 2007-2008, awarded to

      San Diego Mesa College, authority is requested to:

 

      Accept, budget and spend in the 2007-2008 General Fund/Restricted Budget $100,000 from the Chancellor’s Office of the California Community Colleges (COCCC).

 

423   In the matter regarding the Governor’s Career Technical Education Initiative (SB 70/SB 1133) “Career Technical Education Workforce Innovation Partnerships” grant for 2007-08 awarded to San Diego

      City College, authority is requested to:

 

      Accept, budget and spend in the 2007-2008 General Fund/Restricted Budget $150,000 from the Chancellor’s Office of the California Community Colleges (COCCC).

 

424   In the matter of the 2006-2008 SB 70 Quick Start grant awarded by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) for the Quick Start Partnerships in Applied Competitive Technologies under the Career Technical Education/Economic and Workforce Development Pathways grants at San Diego City College, authority is requested to:

 

      Accept, budget and spend in the General Fund/Restricted Budget an additional allocation of $40,000 increasing the budget from $366,150

      to $406,150.

 

 

 

 

 

400   BUDGET AND FINANCE (Continued)

 

425   In the matter of the 2007-2008 Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement (MESA) grant from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, authority to accept, budget, and spend in the General Fund/Restricted Budget, an augmentation of $3,015 increasing the budget from $81,500 to $84,515 for the MESA Program at San Diego City College.

 

426   Authority to accept, budget and spend $22,000 in the 2007-2008 General Fund/ Restricted Budget from the San Diego City College Foundation (SDCCF) to enable City College to establish, manage, and maintain an Urban Garden.

 

427   Authority to accept, budget and spend in the General Fund/Restricted Budget $25,000 from the San Diego Children’s Initiative at San Diego City College. This funding will be in the form of a planning grant awarded for the development of a program entitled College Career Pathways for After-school Staff.

 

428   In the matter of the Board Financial Assistance Program (BFAP) from the Chancellor’s Office, California Community Colleges (COCCC), in the 2007-2008 Budget at City, Mesa and Miramar Colleges, authority is requested to:

 

       Accept, budget and spend an additional $4,500 in the Financial Aid Fund Budget at City ($1,500), Mesa ($1,500) and Miramar ($1,500) Colleges.

 

429   In the matter of the 2007-2008 General Fund/Restricted Credit Matriculation budget, authority is requested to accept, budget and spend an additional $46,000 from the Chancellor’s Office California Community College (COCCC), increasing the 2007-2008 budget from $3,060,622 to $3,106,622.

 

490   Consideration and adoption of the Tentative Budget for 2008-2009.

520   Consideration and approval of new or revised courses and programs.

 

540   In the matter of the Cooperative WorkAbility III program grant from the State of California Department of Rehabilitation to provide specialized career counseling and job placement services to Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) students with severe disabilities throughout the San Diego Community College District effective July 1, 2008, until funding ends, authority to:

 

1.    Enter into a new three (3) year contract from 2008-2011 in the amount of $818,808;

 

2.    Adopt a resolution providing authority for the District to enter into an agreement with the State of California Department of Rehabilitation, to provide vocational rehabilitation services, including career guidance and job placement services to students with severe disabilities;

 

3.    Continue a 1.0 FTE 12-month restricted College (Assistant Professor/ WorkAbility III Coordinator) Counselor position (#010448) and incumbent; and

 

4.    Accept, budget, and spend $272,936 in the 2008-2009 Restricted Budget from the State of California Department of Rehabilitation for the WorkAbility III program.

541   In the matter of the Advanced Transportation Technology and Energy (ATTE) program at San Diego Miramar College, authority is requested to:

 

1.    Enter into a contract with North Orange Community College District to provide a training program for faculty regarding wind technician education; and

 

2.    Accept, budget and spend $30,000 in the 2007-2008 General Fund/ Restricted Budget.

610   Approval of academic, classified and hourly personnel actions relating to appointments, assignment changes, salary changes, status changes, leaves of absence, separations and volunteerism during the period May 1, 2008, through May 31, 2008.

 

660   In the matter of a classified supervisor position at San Diego Miramar College, authority to establish a 1.0 Outreach Coordinator (working title Upward Bound Coordinator), Range 10 ($4,409-6,388), Supervisory Unit in the TRIO/Upward Bound Program at San Diego Miramar College, effective

      July 1, 2008.

 

661   In the matter regarding contract position classifications district wide, effective July 1, 2008, (unless otherwise noted) authority is requested to:

 

1.    Establish the following classifications/positions using the Hay Methodology:

811   Authority to renew a Use Permit with Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center for use of their facilities by Continuing Education for a one-year period commencing July 1, 2008, and terminating June 30, 2009.

 

830   In the matter of increasing the energy efficiency and improving the cooling at the District Data Center, in the ‘W’ Building at San Diego Miramar College:

 

1.    PUBLIC HEARING on adoption of a resolution making the finding necessary under Government Code Section 4217.12 for entering into an Energy Service Contract with Syska Hennessy Group Construction without formal competitive bidding; and

 

2.    Authority to enter into a design-build contract with Syska Hennessy Group Construction for pre-construction services and equipment.  The contract is subject to approval by District Counsel and available for review in Facilities Management at the District Office.

                  

831   Authority to adopt a resolution designating FieldTurf as the District Standard for all Synthetic athletic turf installations.

 

832   Authority to adopt a resolution  designating Mondo “Super X Performance” track system as the District Standard for all synthetic surfaced track installations.

 

840   Authority to enter into consulting contracts with the firms listed below to provide environmental consulting services for various Proposition S and Proposition N projects throughout the San Diego Community College District.

In accordance with Education Code Section 72121.5, citizens are invited to participate in the governance system of the District by utilizing the PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS section of the Board meeting agenda. Citizens wishing to be listed on the agenda should call the Board office seven workdays prior to the scheduled meeting.

 

PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS on items listed on the agenda shall be heard at the time the item is discussed and prior to Board action on the item. Each presentation shall be limited to five minutes (a total of twenty minutes on the same subject) unless this time limit is waived by action of the Board.

                           

Persons requesting a new matters presentation shall be prepared to be heard by the Board at the conclusion of all sections of the agenda. (The Board shall take no action, other than an action of referral, on the new matters subject.) Each presentation shall be limited to five minutes (total of 20 minutes on the same subject) unless this time limit is waived by action of the Board.
